Scripture for today: Lamentations 3; Lamentations 4; Lamentations 5; Revelation 15
Scripture-My special verse today: Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.
Observation: One must seek something to truly value it when they obtain it. To the people, God has become something that very few are even thinking about, let alone seeking. The prophet is telling the people where hope is to found, not in their own abilities but only in the salvation of the Lord. However, one must seek the Lord to find him, he does not hunt us down and tackle us to get our attention.
Application: How many times have I sought the Lord in my life? Not enough evidently. To really want something requires a certain strength of character. One must wait, save, wait, save and struggle to obtain the thing they are searching for and, once they find it, to obtain that thing of value. How much more value something has when I have had to wait for it? Credit steals us of the joy of working hard to obtain things. Credit allows for immediate gratification and delayed payment. By the time the thing is paid off, we have already forgotten why we wanted it in the first place.
To truly seek God is a mark of a true disciple. They seek his face no matter what the odds. Then, when they find the Lord they are so glad to have him. They have sought the true treasure and found him. He is all they thought he would be!! I want to truly seek him in a way that makes others take notice and want to seek him as well.
Prayer: Let me seek you with an unbridled enthusiasm that makes others want you too.
