So according to the news reports, NASA lost the satellite spiraling to Earth. Am I the only one that finds this a little less than comforting? I mean, call me simple minded but the thing was the size of a bus. We have Droids that can find a location within a few feet but somehow we lost a large, bus sized satellite falling to the Earth. Conveniently, they said it probably fell into the sea. Well isn’t that convenient?

I’m trying to imagine the conversation going on within the tracking station.

Operator 1: Well, I think I have it in the radar.

Operator 2: Yep, got it sighted. We are good now.

Operator 1: Oh wait, that was just a 747 headed to New York. Oops, keep looking.

Operator 2: Oh, guess you’re right. Let me turn on all the tracking radar and we will be good.

Operator 1: Anything?

Operator 2: Uh, no. Tell you what. Let’s send Earl outside with the binoculars and pay him $20 if he spots anything falling to Earth.

Operator 1: Great idea! And hey, if he doesn’t see anything, we’ll just claim it fell in the sea.

Operator 2: Perfect. That’s why they pay us the big bucks!

OK, so I’m not really trying to be mean, just saying that if NASA can lose a bus-sized satellite, what else could be out of our control?
